Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Beach Resort
It goes without saying, but the villa's location within the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Beach Resort is a major perk. You'll be able to book a wide variety of water sports and excursions, enjoy myriad on-site dining options and shops, or try your luck at the 7,000 Rio Mar Casino. If it's some physical competition you are after, check out the Caribbean's largest tennis center, located on the resort premises. And not to be missed are the two championship golf courses - one designed by legendary course architects Tom and George Fazio and the other by golfing great Greg Norman. When it's time to unwind, relax on a mile of secluded beach or at the villa owner's oceanfront swimming pool, or head into the exclusive Mandara Spa for a truly restorative experience.
El Yunque Rainforest
You are conveniently located just across the road from the Caribbean National Forest, the only tropical rain forest in the national parks system. El Yunque offers great hiking trails for all levels, leading you to waterfalls, tropical plants, orchids, beautiful views and more as you walk or drive through this tropical paradise. Download a map and explore on your own, or book one of the many permitted tour operators.
Beaches & Ocean Activities
You will not be at a loss for ocean fun when staying at our villa. If you feel the need to explore beyond the resort's beach, you may find yourself kite surfing Las Picuas beach or surfing La Pared in Luquillo, hopping a $5 ferry to nearby Culebra island to experience Flamenco Bay (one of the world's most beautiful beaches), booking a catamaran excursion from a nearby marina to enjoy snorkeling or diving and lunch at sea, or even kayaking on a moonless night through one of only five bioluminescent bays in the world, located within minutes in Fajardo.
Cities Worth a Visit
The natural wonders of Puerto Rico are endless, but when it's city life and history you crave, rest assured you can get that too! The capital city of San Juan is an easy 30-45 min drive, and offers rich history (the old colonial city) and world-class dining, shopping, and entertainment (shows, nightlife, casinos). If you are feeling more ambitious, take a drive down to Ponce (~1hr 45 mins), known as "the Pearl of the South" and PR's second city. Ponce boasts an abundance of museums rich in history and art, unique architecture - including the iconic fire station and beautiful central town plaza -, the Hacienda Buena Vista coffee plantation (offering tours), and the Castillo Serralles (a grand mansion that once belonged to the owners if the Don Q rum distillery).
